Mid Year Ball

Peninsula Training Zone celebrated its third year of business with a gala ball and again graciously used this occasion to fundraise for The Isabella and Marcus Fund. It was held at The Rocks, Mornington on Melbourne’s Port Philip Bay. The ball was hosted by CrossFit owners Sonia De Rose and Chris Santas and Claudia De Rose, Isabella’s cousin. Thank-you!  It was great to meet some familiar faces from last year’s event, including Sean Smith, who used the intervening 12 months to grow a beard, raise awareness of DIPG and fundraise for the charity. That was a nice surprise, thank-you Sean! We are also grateful to the extended PTZone community who provided items for auctions.

To the many crossfitters who joined the Isabella and Marcus Team in the Melbourne Marathon Festival in 2012, thank-you, and we look forward to the many who have pledged to be a part of the Upstream 50km Challenge in November 2013 in support of IMF.

Golf Day 2013

The 3rd instalment of the Isabella and Marcus Fund Golf Day was held at the Long Island Country Club in Frankston, Victoria on Friday, April 12th. The players were fuelled with a hearty breakfast before setting out to play on the immaculately presented course. The team format was Ambrose and with glorious weather and course conditions all teams were well below par and separated by a mere 6 shots.

The Winning team was O & S Airconditioning (net 58), closely followed by Team StanMara (net 59). Closest to the pins were won by Stan Marigliano and Frank De Rose, longest drives by Rohan Lane and Con Zaharias. Golf lessons were awarded to 2 ‘developing’ players, courtesy of Ben Hood Golf.

Thank-you once again to Harvey Norman Springvale for their generous donation of a 55’, 3D LED TV and two Samsung Galaxy media players for the raffle. Our gratitude also to Drummond Golf for a deluxe golf bag and to Bosch Australia, Dan Murphy, Long Island Country Club and Berwick Montuna Golf Club for prizes. Thank-you to Nick Dastey, the General Manager of Long Island Country Club and his hard working staff for hosting a well organised day with a sumptuous lunch in the stately clubhouse afterwards.

This event is a staple in the Isabella and Marcus Fund Calendar and we were pleased to see returning players and exposure to a new group of people. We hope to see you again next year.

3rd Annual Classic Car Day

From humble beginnings at Pitman Classics in 2011 with 50 cars, the third annual IMF Classic Car Day this year showcased 550 cars at the Bonbeach Sports Reserve. The quality of cars on display was truly outstanding and competition for the 6 prizes on offer was strong. Our thanks go out to the classic car community in Victoria who have supported this event with gusto since its inception. Our Ambassador and major drawcard for the event, Fletch from Channel 31’s Classic Resto’s, was back again to offer his unqualified support to the charity. It was amazing to witness his popularity within the classic car community.

Once again, luck was on our side and Melbourne provided a warm sunny day for this event. There’s something for everyone at the Isabella and Marcus Classic Car Day, especially for the kids who were treated to jumping castles, a petting zoo, specky machine, colouring competitions or face and nail painting.

Congratulations to the winners:
