3AW Neil Mitchell Radio Program Charity Giveaway

It all began with a text from a friend "ring Neil Mitchell from 3AW he is giving away $10,000 worth of goods from Harvey Norman to charities" I did and as they say the "rest is history"... I rang and after being put on hold for a very long time got through, had a brief chat with Neil Mitchell about the work of the fund - surprisingly he remembered our little chat at the Melbourne Marathon when I accidently-on-purpose bumped into him - filled in the nomination form and the Isabella & Marcus Fund was selected along with 3 other charities from over 1000 entries to win a $10,000 gift voucher from Harvey Norman, Springvale.  Robert, Khush, Tony and myself were invited to the live show where we were presented with the voucher and had the opportunity to chat "on air" with Neil Mitchell about the work and goal of the fund.  It truly was a happy day, one that the four of us have not experienced for a very long time. It was nice to see us all smiling, lots of hugs going around too, followed by a lot of "can you believe this". The goal of the fund is such a huge one and to be acknowledged and recognised in this way was a really great feeling.  Thank-you to our dear friends Kelli, Jo, Christian and Mia - all wearing their Isabella & Marcus Fund t-shirts - for sharing this event with us, it meant a lot.  A warm and sincere thank you to Neil Mitchell, the team at 3AW and Harvey Norman Springvale for their wonderful gift. It is truly appreciated and will be put to wonderful use during the coming year’s events.  It was great to finish the year on such a positive note.

In spite of the incessant rain, there was another wonderful turnout for the 2nd annual Ladies Morning Tea fundraiser, held at Daniela and Tony’s home on Saturday Nov 19th. Thank you to each of the 110 ladies for a memorable day. Many warm thanks to all the volunteers, especially the hardworking LMT Team that worked for months to make it possible. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the many businesses that kindly donated items for auction and raffle and individuals that prepared or gifted something for the day. Melbourne Marathon
Held Sunday, October 9th, 2011
Team 'Isabella & Marcus Fund'

Melbourne lived up to its reputation of four seasons in one day, in fact in one morning! This was the 2nd Melbourne Marathon for the Isabella and Marcus Fund, following on from a very successful debut year in 2010. This year the ‘Isabella and Marcus team’ consisted of 101 participants and comprised the 9th largest team in the event. Thank-you to everyone that participated on behalf of the fund and proudly wore the team t-shirts provided by Warren from Wojo Signs Pty Ltd with printing by Richard from Blazeart and to the many people that sponsored the runners and cheered us on to make this another truly successful day.

Our marathoners deserve special mention, Jonathan Jacobson (time: 3:27:37, a top 1000 finisher), Stephen Bock (time: 3:31:30, 181st in his age group), and Angelos Makrangelos (time: 4:16:20), well done! The other teams included 7 half-marathoners, 29 runners in the 10 km event, 26 in the 5 km run and 36 walkers in the 3 km event.

See you again next year, bigger and better.

Thanks for your continued support girls.

On Sat Aug 20th, a thank-you night was held at The Bay, Mordialloc for the hardworking fundraisers and supporters. 100 guests were in attendance, including the Patron Martin Dixon (Victorian Minister for Education), Luke Donnellan, State Member for Narre Warren North, Professor James McCluskey, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Melbourne and journalist and author Martin Flanagan. The night was abuzz with reflection, the sharing of ideas and enthusiasm for the years ahead. It’s been a great team effort, thank-you to everyone.

St Francis of Assisi Fundraiser (in memory of Luke Ciavarella)

Thank-you again to St Francis of Assisi Primary School for holding a second annual fundraiser. This is a great way to honour the memory of Luke Ciavarella, who attended in 2008 and 2009. Thank-you to the principal, Dane Malone, for his commitment to this charity, Helen and Mauro Ciavarella, the staff and volunteers and the generosity of the community in raising over $1500.

Fundraising at Casey Grammar

Friday 5 August was a great day for fundraising at Casey Grammar School as the primary students dressed up in support of their future dreams.  The children were given the challenge of collecting coins to compete for the class with the longest coin trail.  4F were the winners on the day with their coin trail stretching 28.8 metres with 2B raising the most money at $260.  The atmosphere leading up to the event and on the day was one of compassion and support as they worked for the common cause of raising $1812.85 to go towards researching brain stem tumours in young children.  The children were touched as they developed an understanding of the Isabella and Marcus fund. A warm thank you letter was received from Tony and Daniela Ruberto and Robert and Khush De Rose, Marcus’ and Isabella’s parents.

Trinity Catholic Primary School

Trinity Catholic School in Richmond North, Years 1/2N and 4/5R held a fundraiser on Thursday the 18th August and was a wonderful success. As you can see by the photos the children came dressed up as what they 'wanted to be when they grow up'. We had a variety of occupations from lawyers, doctors, lifesavers, vets, dancers, shop keepers to soldiers.  The teachers and children completed activities as part of the “Dream Day.”
As a school community we raised $287.90 for the fund. Thank you so much for your generosity the money will certainly help the fund in their quest to find a cure
.

Crazy Hair Day

Children and Staff came to school with amazing coloured hair and hair styles. The school raised a total of $340, thank you for your support and we hope you had fun!

Fattima Fatties

Our Lady of Fatima Primary School Staff conducted the first ever "3kg Weight Loss Challenge". Participants entered the challenge with the aim of losing 3 unwanted kilos, or doubling their donation.  We’re not sure of their success rate, however it looks like the fund was the winner, as the staff donated a total of $414.00.  Many sincere thanks to all participants for the manner in which you have embraced the Isabella & Marcus Fund.

Our Lady of Fatima

Our Lady of Fatima, Rosebud held a "Kids Dream Day" and raised $440 from the days events.  We sincerley thank the staff and school community for there ongoing and continued support of the fund.  We appreciate the manner in which you are all constantly promoting and raising awareness for the work of the fund.  Many, many thanks.

In addition, earlier in the year, the children in Year 2 made a coin line to celebrate their 100th day of school and collected a total of $74, which they have kindly donated to the Isabella & Marcus Fund.  Great Job!

Golf Day

Players set out in almost ideal conditions onto the challenging, rolling layout of Churchill Park golf course. With Ambrose as the format for the day, the occasional wayward shot was forgiven and the collective efforts of the players compiled into a team score resembling that of a touring professional. The clubhouse leader was the team of ‘Melbourne Health’ with a net score of 55 closely followed by 2 teams with scores of 57 each. Everyone was then treated to a BBQ lunch in the clubhouse overlooking the 18th green. It was a successful day and a lot of fun for everyone and we look forward to doing it all again next year. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the participants, volunteers and sponsors.
