Isabella and Marcus lost their lives to a little known brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This cancer occurs in the brainstem, most frequently in children under the age of 12 years and offers no prospect of long term survival. Most children die within a year of diagnosis.
Research has improved the prognosis of many children’s cancers but there has been no progress in the treatment of DIPG in the last30 years. The only treatment available is radiotherapy, which temporarily reduces symptoms. Brain cancer now kills more children than any other disease in Australia and DIPG is the most dangerous.

Mission
To fund Australian research into paediatric brainstem tumours with a focus on DIPG.
Vision
To establish research laboratories in Australia that seek to understand the cause of DIPG and develop novel treatments for testing in clinical trials.
Isabella’s and Marcus’ families were brought together by their tragedies. They are like-minded in their pursuit to extend and improve the quality of life for children diagnosed with brainstem tumours and ultimately to find a cure.
Upstream Challenge, November 11th 2017
Scientists are created from PhD scholarships. New, eager and engaged scientists fuel future discoveries. For the Isabella and Marcus Fund this activity is directed to establishing new treatments for brain cancer in children.
The Upstream Challenge is run by Upstream Foundation. As beneficiaries, the Isabella and Marcus Fund provide PhD scholarships. Each year a new scholarship is provided and this year will fund student number 5.
Thank-you to all the wonderful people that participated and volunteered in this year's event. It was an unusually warm day and the 20 km or 50 km was far more dificult than normal.
Classic Car Show
Thanks to the classic car community for showcasing your 550 vehicles at the Isabella and Marcus Fund Classic Car Day and to the many sponsors and volunteers who make this event possible. Trucks are now also a part of the show.
One of the classic car enthusiasts prepared a great video of the day.
